Portraits

These portraits were my first proper attempt at taking Procreate seriously. Some of them I'm happy with, some I think could do with a bit more work, some I haven't uploaded entirely. But hey, content.

Me, before I changed glasses. This was a lot of time to spend staring at my own face. Haunting, really.

Anthony Bourdain is one of my heroes. After reading 'Kitchen Confidential', his tell-all bestseller about the food industry, I went through a long cooking phase. I bought a proper chefs knife, lots of equipment, and tried out a whole range of recipes that would push my knowledge to the edge. I even considered going through a proper culinary course at one point. Fortunately for my career & my bank balance, the phase passed, and now I'm back to either cooking recipes from Gousto or having a bowl of cereal for dinner. I'm sure he'd be proud.

As a teenager I was obsessed with Charlie Brooker's work, be it Screenwipe, Nathan Barley or his books. I wanted to match his writing style as much as possible, which led to me leaving some fairly savage and sarcastic reviews on Yelp at the time. Luckily, since then, I've realised I don't have to become someone to admire them - so here's a drawing of him instead.

Just a f**king kick-ass musician. He was the frontman of 'Reuben', one of my favourite bands of all time, who broke up in 2008. Since then he's released some insanely good solo albums, including 'Devolver' - which, in my opinion, is a masterpiece. Check it out.
