Vintage Inspired Posters

I love vintage prints - be it old adverts, cigarette cards & cartons, or album artwork. So for this series I've used them as inspiration to honour some of my favourite things, be it bands, coffee, or...well, anything really.

Originally I wanted to create a guide on how to use a Chemex for work, which I did. I then enjoyed it so much I went on to create a couple more, but this time removing the company logo. (Company version not seen here, but it's very similar, and now adorns my workplace kitchen).

The Matcha one actually got a lot of attention on the Matcha subreddit, and there's now a website selling t-shirts with the design on, which is pretty cool!

All of these coffee/tea prints can be found on my Etsy, pick up one if you fancy. I'll likely do more at some point, maybe an Aeropress?

One day we were sitting and wondering where it's at, when down came a dragon with a wizard on his back

I've been reading a lot of 1950's Horror & Sci-Fi comics recently and got inspired to make this Electric Wizard art based on that style.

It's incorporating as many motifs from their album artworks and songs as possible, kudos to those who spot them all.

'No. 666' in the top banner is self-explanatory, '1993' is the year they formed, 'Wimborne' is where they formed, and the price of the comic...well, if you know, you know.

Let me know what you think, and go give Electric Wizard a spin.

You gave to me a new belief, and soon the world will love you, Sweet Leaf

Another vintage cigaratte-pack inspired print, this time for the mighty Black Sabbath. It was based off 'Kensita's' cigarettes, but I've never heard of 'em. I'm really happy with how the bat worked out on this.

A souvenir from Motel la Mort, where none check out, but many check in.

Inspired by 1950's matchbooks, I created one based on an imagined fictional motel, 'Motel la Mort', or, if my French is correct, 'The Death Motel'. This was really fun - I did it whilst rinsing horror films on 'Shudder'. I did a colour variant as well, for funsies, which you can see below.

The 'where many check-in, but none check-out' is directly influenced by The Forest of Sin in Roald Dahl's 'The Minpins'. "Beware, beware, the forest of sin! None come out, but many go in"!.

Variant!
"Drop out of life with bong in hand, follow the smoke toward the riff-filled land"

It's a re-imagining of the 'Dopesmoker' album art, one of the greatest stoner/doom metal albums of all time by 'Sleep'. I've reimagined it as a vintage pack of smokes, specifically, a pack of Camels. I absolutely loved creating this and it got a fair amount of attention on the 'doommetal' subreddit, which has really encouraged me to create some more.

Haggard Cat - du beau hardcore!

I first saw Haggard Cat at 2000 Trees in 2022, and they blew my mind. Such an immense sound coming from just two guys. Anyway, I created the above based off an old Phillip's advert I saw, as I loved the colour combos and the 1960's style french text. In this case it means, "some lovely hardcore!".
